11 Good Steps On How To Live A Happy Life

November 07, 2018
If you must live a happy life, there are three important questions you have to ask yourself first. and the question is;
What is happiness?
What roles does happiness plays in your life?
What does it take to be happy?
If you can be able to answer this three questions, then getting to find happiness will be very much easier for you. A lot of people today have failed to realize the need and importance of happiness, they fail to realize that with happiness their goals is achievable. And that is the reason why i have decided to write this post, because in this post you will get to know the true meaning of happiness and the roles or benefits of living a happy life.

In this post you will equally get the tips and steps to live a happy life.
Now let's get started.
First, what is happiness? According to Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary Happiness simply means a feeling or showing pleasure.
Again. Happiness is the ability to be satisfied that something is good or right. I personally like the second definition, there is a lot to learn from this very definition and that is;
You can never be happy or satisfied when you are not doing things right.
Now without wasting much of our time let's quickly look closely at the things you can do to be able to live a happy and successful life you deserve.
Points to consider;

  • Believe In Yourself
  • Stay Positive In All Things
  • Always Do Those Things You Like Doing
  • Make The Right Friends
  • Live By principle
  • Always Mediate
  • Get Rid Of Your Pride
  • It Does Not Matter What People Think About You
  • Don't Be Fast Enough To Judge People
  • Learn To Forgive
  • Do Not Be Afraid Of Mistake

Believe In Yourself
Life is too competitive, therefore to be able to be the best in your field, you will have to believe in yourself first. It is very important you believe in your personal ability. When an opportunity rises, take action and have the mindset that you are going to make it.

Believe in yourself that there is no limit to what you can achieve in life

Stay Positive In All Things
Just like i mentioned earlier, you must have the mentality of believing that things will only workout for good. Being positive brings you positive things in live. And thinking negatively will only cause negative effect on you, that is why you have to avoid it.
Stay positive, believe in your capability and always do what is right at the appropriate time.

You don't know what you are capable of until you try doing it

Always do those things you like doing
One thing is for sure, and that is you can never be happy doing what you don't like. Just like as i mention above that the world is too competitive, so for you to come out the best in your field, you will need passion and devotion.
Let's quickly look at the meaning of passion.

Passion is a very strong of liking something; a hobby or an activity.
When you do what you like you will see yourself doing it more better. Now it is left for you to ask yourself. what is that thing that you always derive joy doing? If you can be able to come up with any answer, congratulations to you. Now stick with it, keep doing it.
One interesting thing about doing what you like doing is that even when that very thing seem difficult, because of the fact that you are doing it with all your heart you will find it more easier and convenient to do it.

Make The Right Friends
There are so many things to learn when you have friends around you. With friends around you will learn both positive and negative things, that is why when choosing friends you make sure you chose wisely.
Some of the benefits in having the right friends is that he will get to help you out in so many ways, especially when you are lost, he advises you on how to do things when you are facing some challenges.

Live By Principle
Living by principle is an example of having control over your life. It will make you do things right instead of making some costly mistake that will cause you your happiness.

Always Meditate
Meditation plays an important role in our life, by giving yourself time to meditate on something you found challenging will help you to come out with the best solution to it.
There are so many benefits of meditation and one of it benefits is that it helps to improve your concentration. Again meditation helps to stabilize you emotion, it also help you to know what is happening around your life.
Finally, it gives meaning to your life.

Get Rid Of Your Pride
You must get ride of your ego if you really want to live a happy life. Pride will never yield anything good in your life. Instead it causes you pain and stagnate your life.
Pride will always make you to always look down someone that posses the qualities which you will need to excel in life, and with such life you will always end up meeting the wrong once. Now what you have to do is to fight it off, get rid of it immediately.

It Does Not Matter What People Think About You
Majorly, this is the area you really need to look into. To me i see this as the one of the characteristics of life, because in life no matter who you are or whatever you do be it good or bad did, right or wrong, people will always lament on it. That is why you can never please everybody at the same time.
But the unavoidable question here is, why is it totally impossible to please everybody at the same time? Well, let me try my best in answering this particular question. base on my own perspective i will say it is because everybody has him/her own way of viewing or thinking, you can't possibly force someone to change his way of thinking.
No matter how you do it, you can't just try it. Their are some set of people out there that can't be pleased no matter what you do and how you did it. But mind you that the fact that you can't please everybody at the same time does not necessarily mean you should stop pleasing people.

Don't Be Fast Enough To Judge People
As they said, it is never good to judge a book by it cover. But is more advisable to try to know people well before judging them, than judging them before getting to know them.
There are some set of people that when challenges rises, they are always quick enough to judge after hearing a side of the story, such attitude is indeed a bad habit. No matter what before judging you are to ensure you hear from both side before concluding in order to avoid putting yourself into trouble.

Learn To Forgive
If i'm being called upon to name one thing that can affect a person both physically, emotionally and spiritually. I will plainly and boldly tell you that it is MALICE.
This is Yolanda Hadid quote
I believe forgiveness is the best form of love in any relationship. It takes a strong person to say they're are sorry and even stronger person to forgive
Do Not Be Afraid Of Mistake
Making mistake is something we humans can never eradicate. Believe it or not mistake is unavoidable, but it is correctable. One of the great benefit in making mistake is that mistake brings perfection and it's a sign of success.

These are the question students keep asking online, so as a result of that i decided to write this post to provide them with the answers they seek. In this post i will provide you ways to gain Admission into Nigeria University without Jamb Exam

Are you tired of writing jamb? Or you're tired of waiting for complete full year to resit for jamb utme. It can be frustration to find yourself in such situation.
Well, the purpose of this post is to provide you with the list of ways to gain university admission without writing jamb.
Interim Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) is one of the major test you must pass to be able to gain admission into any university of your choice. Writing jamb can be difficult and too stressful due to the fact that it is once in a year exam, when you fail it you will have to wait for another year.

Though passing jamb does not guarantee you University admission because after scoring up to the jamb cut-off mark, you will be required to write POST UTME examination before you will be able to gain admission into the university of your choice.
To avoid the stress of SSCE, that is WAEC Exam, NECO Exam, GCE Exam etc. You can decide to opt-in for  this easy ones i am about to list out for you.

7 Causes Of Poor Academic Performance In Nigeria With Top Secret Solutions

October 05, 2018

You don't get it, you can't just get the reason why there is always a poor academic performance in this our generation, chances are that you fall into this category. well you're about to figure out the reason why majority of the students or university graduate always find it difficult to prove or defend what they read.
In this post we will be analyzing the causes of poor academic performance. As far as education is concerned, there is always a massive failure in every school examination especially here in Nigeria. When you look at the performance of students in recent years examinations, you will discover that there is always a massive failure. Exams like Waec exam, Neco, Gce and Nebtab, post utme and jamb exam, for students to pass any of this exams they will need a proper guidance.

But the fact that a student failed does not necessarily mean that he/she is a failure. The fact remains that Nigerians are intellectually blessed.
That means there are factors contributing to poor academic performance. Well, in any problem there is always a solution to it. But is impossible to solve a problem without first identifying the root of that particular problem.
So to be able to solve any problem;
First you have to find out the root and the causes of that very problem before thinking of resolving it.
Points To Consider In this pot

Poor Parental Care In The Academic
Lack Of Motivation
Lack Of Feeding
Isolation
Environmental Problem
Lack Of Quality Teachers
Inadequate Study Time

1. Poor Parental Care In The Academic
There is nothing more than having someone who was once in the same field you are today. When you have a parents that cares so much for education, you will learn a lot from their past experience, you will learn how somethings is being done from them because they have being there before.

But the unavoidable question here is;
How do poor parental care in the academic contribute to poor academic performance at school? Using primary school pupils as an example. At this their early stage of education, they will need a guidance to always inspect their school notes and to ensure they do their school assignment properly.

Again as a university student having a parents that cares much about your Grading Point Average (GPA) can make you more determined to study harder in order for you to prove yourself.
The influence of parents upon the lives of their children cannot be measured.

2. Lack Of Motivation
To be able to achieve something out of anything in this life requires passion and  determination. Education needs devotion and persistence in order to come out the best in your studies.
Many students don't see the need of reading their books because they lack motivation on it, and as a result of this they end up failing in school exams.
Motivation plays a very big roles in everything we do. when you approach some students today, you will discover that majority of them don't really fancy the courses they are studying, some will tell you that to solve mathematics is very hard, physics is hard, chemistry is my worst subject.

Now tell me, what makes you think that such student will settle down and go extra miles to pass that very subject. In a situation like this what they really need is a guardian, a tutor or a lecturer that will guide and motivate them.
This is the area where our teachers or lecturer need to improve, teaching is not all about writing and solving mathematics. sometimes advise play a major role in once life, advise alone can elevate a discourage soul. If our teachers can be able to abduct the pattern of using at least 30% of their time to encourage and advise students and use the remaining 70% for teaching, it will be a big impact to students

3. Financial Constraint/Poverty
Education is never for free, even though it is being made available for free today, you will still need to invest on it, by buying recommended materials, provide for your children that is in high institution, you will need money to do all this.
In education where you stated matters a lot, we are talking about your foundation here. Due to lack of money some parents ends up enrolling their children in a limited school that got nothing to offer for this children. when i said limited school i actually mean schools that lack facilities and equipment to help children, and equally lack qualified teachers.
So some parents do this because they cannot afford the money for a well standard school. In such situation you can't expect the one from a poor background to bit the one that was expose to educational facilities, unless that child is intellectually blessed by God.
some students find it difficult to feed while in school because they lack money.

Reading your books requires a special attention. A full concentration is needed for anybody to read and understand what he is reading. Lack of feeding can be very harmful for any student who want to succeed in his/her academic.

4. Isolation
There is a very good advantages in group reading, to me i really do enjoy reading with my course mates, it helps a lot. It helps you retain what you read easily. One of the benefits in group reading is that you will get to have the answers to those things you found challenging by asking questions.
Many students always find it difficult to express their self, they find it difficult to relate with their friends due to lack of confidence or over self-confidence.
These are the major factors contributing to poor academic performance at school

5. Environmental problem
Living in a bad environment is another thing that can causes poor academics performance. A good and peaceful environment plays a major role in your studies.
Do you know that living in the environment where people does not value education can affect you? When you live in such environment you can never have a motivation to read, you will end up being distracted by them.
Do you know that living in a family where there no peace can affect your studies? This is actually one of the contributor of poor academic performance at school.

6. Lack Of Quality Teachers
The lack of quality teachers is also one of the things that contribute to poor academic performance. Teachers have a very big roles to play in the lives of students, the role of a good teacher is to guide students on how to learn and approach some difficult things in life.

But unfortunately many teachers failed to appreciate the value of developing their students. This is the area our government need to look into, they are to ensure they employ a well mean teachers that have something to offer. Their are a lot of qualified and talented teachers out there that have a lot to offer. If our government can look into this issue, the rate of poor academic performance can never be the same.

7. Inadequate Study Time
Naturally some student are too lazy that they cannot even imagine giving their book at least 3 hours attention. Schooling is not just about having all the recommended textbooks around you, it is all about studying it and making sure you always cover everything in the syllabus given to you, they always find it difficult to make out time for their books.
A good student should be discipline enough to set up a studying timetable for himself and make it a habit to always follow the schedule.
Knowing quite well that there is always a poor academic performance every year, a good example of this is Jamb exam. To pass Jamb exam is one of the the major challenge students are facing this days. You can decide not to be like any normal student and try to be extraordinary.

Set a projection plan for yourself containing some strict rules and regulations. the things you are to include on it is;
Making sure you always attend lectures.
To always revise your notes after any lecture each day.
To always read and study your note books.
Finally to take God first over everything you do in life.

These are the four things that got me to where i am today, you should not fail to include them in your projection plan. Do not forget as a student that you are the leader of tomorrow. You should also know that for you to be a leader, you must be a reader.

Conclusion
As a student who want to succeed, try to make a difference, don't just decide to be like other students. Instead of being normal, try to be extraordinary. yes you can do it, you just need to believe in yourself.

Never underestimate your ability and capacity.
Avoid spending much of your time in frivolities like chatting, joking and playing at the wrong time. It is the high time you arise and accomplish your goals.
You don't know what you are capable of doing until you try it. "Never You Dream Of Success, Fight For It"
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth.( 2nd  Timothy 2:15).

September 28, 2018

University of Port Harcourt is one of the most popular federal university in Nigeria that runs a  Pre-degree programme also known as Basic studies.
Basic Studies Programme is a programme designed to help those students who did not meet up with the university admission requirement. I personally see this programme as a golden opportunity to gain admission into any high institution of your choice. Considering the high rate of university applicants in Nigeria, gaining admissions in Nigerian universities has become one of the major challenges for students. I gained my own admission through University of Port Harcourt Basic Studies Programme. As a result of that, i have decided to share with you my personal experience and observations while on basic programme.
If you are planing on enrolling for Basic Studies programme, that means this post is really meant for you. If you are to pass basic exam i will advise you to settle down and read this post, trust me you will benefit a lot from these write up, because the purpose of this post is to help you know some important things you need to know about Basic Studies Programme.

In this post i am going to share with you 21 Things You Need To Know Before Applying For University Of Port Harcourt Basic Studies Programme.

Lets get started.
1. Basic Studies Programme Is Fun But Very Stressful
Yes Basic is fun but very stressful, as a basic student you will get to meet so many people with different characters. The Programme consist of two semesters of intensive teaching. Each semester is made of ten (10) weeks of lectures.

2. Writing Of Screening Exam Before Admission
You will need to write basic screening examination before you will be granted admission into University of Port Harcourt Basic Studies Programme. This screening exam comprises of English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. This exam is just like Post UTME with  just 50 questions to be answered. It is advisable you do your best to perform well.

The screening exercise is a must for all basic candidates to undergo, it is a Computer Based Screening Test (CBT), for the selection of the best for admission. But do not be afraid, it is not  difficult. During my time they admitted almost everybody even the one with the least scores. You are to ensure that you get there before the Exam time.

3. The Duration Of The Programme Is One Academic Year
It is a one academic year programme consisting of two semesters of intensive teaching. You are advise to take each semester serious because your performance will play a major role in getting admitted.
Maybe i should tell you this story, Yes  let me tell you. it is my little story I believe you will grab one or two lessons from it.
During my time in Basic studies, it was my second week in the campus precisely. You know being in such a large campus with thousands of students can make you forget all your worries and even your purpose of being in school.
I was more interested in making new friends that i never knew what basic was like, i was even seeing myself as an undergraduate student. So one day a friend came to me while i was reading, she asked me come along with her to the school library (Donald Ekong Library) which i accepted without wasting time. So we left together, i was very excited to be there that particular day because seeing such a big library was of a great surprise to me. I and my friend was able to dash into the library without any distraction from the library staff. It was indeed a big library with thousands of books in it. you will equally find air conditions and ceiling fans there, it was very quite in there.
Believe me, it was very cool to read in there. So on that particular day i made up my mind to be coming to the library everyday to read my books. The next day i decided to go back there to read, i was so happy that i couldn't even wait to get there. I got there and was surprised when one woman whom i believe is one of the library staff asked me about my school identity card which i presented to her my Basic Studies registration print out. After checking it. I was shocked to hear her saying that i was not qualified to enter the library, she told me that my Basic school fees does not qualify me for the library and she told me to go back and work hard to be able to have access to the school library.
Well it was somehow embarrassing but i didn't see it as an embarrassment, instead i saw it as a challenge, i saw it as a big task to accomplish. Do you know what happened? I was more determined to work hard and to prove myself. Hard work pays. Today i now have access to that particular library. There are so many lesson you can learn from this short story of mine.

4. Students Cannot Change Their Department After Registration
This is the first thing you need to know before applying for Basic Studies Programme, it is very important you decide on your course of study in order not to make any mistake of registering a course you will later regret studying tomorrow. It will be better to think well and come up with the one you love.
5. Students Are Required To Register For Five Courses
Doing Basic requires you to register five good courses such as; English (HUM 050), Mathematics (MTH 010), Physics (PHY 030), Chemistry (CHM 001) and Biology (FSB).
NOTE: You must pass all five course to qualify for admission into Pre-degree Programme.

6. There Are Approximately Three Thousand plus Students in Basic Studies Programme Each Year
Every year basic always pull a large number of students. You will notice it when you get there, you will be able to see thousands of students.
Please i will kindly advise you not to mind the number of students out there. I was once a victim of that, at first, seeing the large number of students over there got me discourage that i even started to imagine how to come out the best among all the student there.
Just forget about the number of students and do your best, as long as you did well, Basic will admit you. That is one thing about Basic Studies.

7. There Are Many Basic Tutorials Within The Campus
Apart from Basic normal lectures, there are so many tutorial classes within the campus. The purpose of this tutorials is to guide you through on how Basic exams work, to enable you to know the nature of Basic Studies Examination. With this tutorial you will learn so many things like how to manage your time while writing Basic exams, you will learn how to solve difficult question within some seconds, and you will also learn how to solve long question using shortcut method. I will advise you to engage yourself in one of these tutorials.
There are so many tutorial available in the campus, both free and paid once. If you want me to recommend you to the best and serious one to join, just feel free to comment on the comment box below. I will always make sure i reply you as soon as posiblee.

8. Focus More On Basic Textbooks
There is one good thing i like about Basic Studies, and that is their area of specification of study. Basic have a recommended textbooks for you. You will be given five textbooks for the five courses, that is English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. They are also specific for the number of topics to read in a semester.

9. You Need Jamb To Get Admission Through Basic Studies
This is where i totally disagree with Basic Studies. During my time i registered without having the knowledge that Basic and jamb work hand in hand.
NOTE: To get admission through Basic Studies, you must score at least 180 in jamb exam

10. Basic Studies Have Jamb Tutorial Class For Students
To make things easy for students, the School of Basic Studies made jamb tutorial class available for students. Please i will advise you to take this jamb tutorial class very serious, do take it serious.
Your jamb result will help determine your faith in getting admission, make sure you take it serious.
Do Not Make The Mistake I Made
This is my mistake! During my time in Basic Studies, I channeled all my focus on how to pass Basic. I was very eager to prove myself. I never knew that Jamb is a must exam to be written as long as Basic is concern, I never knew that as a Basic Student that i have to beat the cut-off mark which is 180. It happened that when others are in jamb class, i make sure i am in basic hall, i always ensure i don't miss any lecture. Even though Basic were divided into two groups, which are group A and B. This is how this groups function, when group A is having Basic lecture, Group B will be having Jamb tutorial. And when group B is having Basic lecture, group A will be having jamb tutorial class.
It was obvious that if you come to group A, you will find me there and if you come to group B, you will equally find me there. I was just eager to pass Basic and gain admission. What happened was that before i came to realize that it was very important to beat the cut-off mark it was already late because the major topics on the jamb syllabus has been taught. So i had to join them and was able to get those topics i missed from friends.
But one thing is for sure, and that is; "No Knowledge is a waste". Jamb came, i wrote it and i passed it. Guess what i scored! I scored almost times two of the cut-off mark.
I will strongly advise you to always take jamb class serious while on basic studies, always do your best to combine the two.

11. You Don't Need Post UTME
Basic does not have any thing to do with post utme exam, but to be in a safer side, you will need to write post utme. Writing it will increase your chance of getting admission because if you missed out on basic admission jamb will give you, and if jamb didn't give basic will give you. That is how it works.

12. Biology (FSB) Is Very Compulsory
As far as Basic Studies is concerned, Biology is compulsory. Majority of the students are not fond of this course especially  engineering students. Now school of Basic Studies board has made it mandatory for every Basic students to always take this course very serious. So my candid advise is to face reality, with determination, persistence and hard work you will get the best out of it.

13. Basic Have Past Question  And Answers
Within the campus you will come across different types of past question and answers. They are all basic past questions indeed, but among all of this past questions, there are best among them, very intensive and self-explanatory.
But i will help recommend one of my favorite if you want me to.

14. Basic Can Never Set A Question Aside Textbook
As mentioned, Basic is straight forward and specific. If you must pass basic exam always stick with the textbook given to you, that is where all the question will come from. They can never set any question aside their recommended textbooks.

15. Learn Calculator Shortcut
With the help of calculator shortcut, you will be able to utilize your time properly by manipulating tough question in a seconds. This is one of the things you will learn from this four tutorials i will recommend to you. If you want free tutorial i will tell you the one to join. And if you want paid one, i will tell you the best one to join.

16. Do Not Depend Much On Your Calculator
What am i even saying? I said do not depend much on your calculator. In School of Basic Studies 2017/2018 academic session something actually happened during the first semester examination. It happened that majority of the students went and focused and depended on the calculator shortcut. So on the day of exam the use of calculator was prohibited, and they ended up writing it without calculator, which lead to massive failure.
Please why learning shortcut always ensure you solve without calculator. I am doing this because your success is important to me.

17. Basic Exam Is Always Strict
Ensure you are mindful and careful not to do anything that can implicate you during exam. They have zero toleration exam malpractice. Always make sure you abide on the instruction given  to you.

18. Basic Always Repeat Past Question
Solving past question plays a major role when preparing for any examination. Basic programme are fond of repeating their past question. If you are to pass Basic exam always work with past question. While reading ensure you test yourself using past question and answers.

19. Expect 50 Question For Each Of The Course
There are 50 questions to answer on each of the five courses. First and second semester consist of 500 questions, that is 250 questions for a semester.

20. Basic Exam time times are always limited
If there is somethings to be afraid about, is time. Time factor is one of the reason why students fail basic exam, their time is always limited. Imagine where you will be given 45 minute to answer 100 question. So to make the best use of your time, always solve the once you know and make sure you shade everything including the one you don't know than leaving it blank.

21. Admission Is Sure If You Perform Well
Believe me Basic will offer you admission as long as you perform well no matter what. There is never a two ways about it.

These are all the things you need to know about Basic Studies before applying for  it.

If you have any question concerning  Basic Studies just feel free to ask me using the comment box below. Ask me anything.
