2. Lack Of Motivation
To be able to achieve something out of anything in this life requires passion and determination. Education needs devotion and persistence in order to come out the best in your studies.
Many students don't see the need of reading their books because they lack motivation on it, and as a result of this they end up failing in school exams.
Motivation plays a very big roles in everything we do. when you approach some students today, you will discover that majority of them don't really fancy the courses they are studying, some will tell you that to solve mathematics is very hard, physics is hard, chemistry is my worst subject.
Now tell me, what makes you think that such student will settle down and go extra miles to pass that very subject. In a situation like this what they really need is a guardian, a tutor or a lecturer that will guide and motivate them.
This is the area where our teachers or lecturer need to improve, teaching is not all about writing and solving mathematics. sometimes advise play a major role in once life, advise alone can elevate a discourage soul. If our teachers can be able to abduct the pattern of using at least 30% of their time to encourage and advise students and use the remaining 70% for teaching, it will be a big impact to students
3. Financial Constraint/Poverty
Education is never for free, even though it is being made available for free today, you will still need to invest on it, by buying recommended materials, provide for your children that is in high institution, you will need money to do all this.
In education where you stated matters a lot, we are talking about your foundation here. Due to lack of money some parents ends up enrolling their children in a limited school that got nothing to offer for this children. when i said limited school i actually mean schools that lack facilities and equipment to help children, and equally lack qualified teachers.
So some parents do this because they cannot afford the money for a well standard school. In such situation you can't expect the one from a poor background to bit the one that was expose to educational facilities, unless that child is intellectually blessed by God.

Reading your books requires a special attention. A full concentration is needed for anybody to read and understand what he is reading. Lack of feeding can be very harmful for any student who want to succeed in his/her academic.
4. Isolation
There is a very good advantages in group reading, to me i really do enjoy reading with my course mates, it helps a lot. It helps you retain what you read easily. One of the benefits in group reading is that you will get to have the answers to those things you found challenging by asking questions.
Many students always find it difficult to express their self, they find it difficult to relate with their friends due to lack of confidence or over self-confidence.

5. Environmental problem
Living in a bad environment is another thing that can causes poor academics performance. A good and peaceful environment plays a major role in your studies.
Do you know that living in the environment where people does not value education can affect you? When you live in such environment you can never have a motivation to read, you will end up being distracted by them.
Do you know that living in a family where there no peace can affect your studies? This is actually one of the contributor of poor academic performance at school.
6. Lack Of Quality Teachers
The lack of quality teachers is also one of the things that contribute to poor academic performance. Teachers have a very big roles to play in the lives of students, the role of a good teacher is to guide students on how to learn and approach some difficult things in life.
But unfortunately many teachers failed to appreciate the value of developing their students. This is the area our government need to look into, they are to ensure they employ a well mean teachers that have something to offer. Their are a lot of qualified and talented teachers out there that have a lot to offer. If our government can look into this issue, the rate of poor academic performance can never be the same.
7. Inadequate Study Time
Naturally some student are too lazy that they cannot even imagine giving their book at least 3 hours attention. Schooling is not just about having all the recommended textbooks around you, it is all about studying it and making sure you always cover everything in the syllabus given to you, they always find it difficult to make out time for their books.
A good student should be discipline enough to set up a studying timetable for himself and make it a habit to always follow the schedule.
Knowing quite well that there is always a poor academic performance every year, a good example of this is Jamb exam. To pass Jamb exam is one of the the major challenge students are facing this days. You can decide not to be like any normal student and try to be extraordinary.
Set a projection plan for yourself containing some strict rules and regulations. the things you are to include on it is;
⦁ Making sure you always attend lectures.
⦁ To always revise your notes after any lecture each day.
⦁ To always read and study your note books.
⦁ Finally to take God first over everything you do in life.
These are the four things that got me to where i am today, you should not fail to include them in your projection plan. Do not forget as a student that you are the leader of tomorrow. You should also know that for you to be a leader, you must be a reader.
