I am just trying to point it to you that God has given us everything we need to excel in life. So as a human it is now left for us to Properly utilize those gift given to us. Why do we still fail school exam since we have been given everything (Wisdom and understanding) we need to pass any examination?
That means there are factors contributing to our failure in academics.
Great. This is another question that must be answered, and that question is, what are those factors contributing to the failure in academics?
And that take us to the reason why students always fail school examination.
LACK OF CONCENTRATION IN THE CLASS
Lack of concentration has really caused so many students a lot. The inability to direct their effort and attention to what the tutor/lecturer is teaching in the class is totally bad for a student who is aiming to come out the best . As a student note taking is very important especially noting down some important points or keywords in the class can be very helpful.
Many students don't see the needs of taking note in the class because they will claim to have everything in their textbook. Believe me note taking play an important role especially during examination period because it is mostly the summary of the textbook you claim to have.
Causes Of Lack Of Concentration In The Class
- Divided Attention Or Half Listening: This mostly occur when one is doing two things at a time. Example include, chatting in the class why lecture is going on, you reply a chat and come back to focus on the lecture, and within an interval of time you pick up you mobile phone to reply back again. That is really wrong.
- Psychological Factor: In other for you to be able to grab what the tutor/lecturer is teaching in class you need to be psychologically ready. If one is being unconscious or perhaps hungry, believe me it will be impossible to listen and understand very well.
LACK OF READING
As a student for you to pass any exam you must read. Yes you must read to pass.
Students are tagged leaders of tomorrow, and for you to be a leader you must be a reader. But unfortunately some will read and yet they end up failing, this is because they tend to follow others do the way they do without knowing what works for them. When a friend is making success due to the fact that he always read at night, then you decide to follow Him/Her and at the end of the day you end up sleeping on top of your book.
THIS IS MY ADVISE
i. Try to know what works for you.
ii. Know the right time to read either day/night try to compare the two.
iii. Chose the one that favour you most.
iv. Make it a habit to always read after every lecture you attend.
PROCRASTINATION
Procrastination is our biggest enemy, it is a very big threat to humanity. Procrastination is mostly caused by laziness, in fact it is one of the most major weak point of every student. Students always fail to read their book at the right time, instead they end up Procrastinating it. Sometimes they skip classes because of some in-genuine reasons.
Procrastination is a deadly disease . So as a student how do we eradicate it?
i. Set a principle or a target and make sure you follow it with determination and persistence you will get over it.
ii. Make it a habit to always do things at the right time.
iii. The bible says that when it comes to do somethings, we should never delay.
iv. Remember that one cure for procrastination is more diligence, regardless of the task.
LAZINESS
One of the major things that contribute to exam failure is laziness. If you must come out the best in your exam you, you will need to go extra miles, you must go beyond book reading to mark a research on what you have been taught. Doing that will keep you at a safer side.
EXAM MALPRACTICE
When a student is been caught cheating on any exam, it always leads to cancellation of paper or deduction of mark. some don't even see the need of reading book, they put malpractice first thinking that they will make it. I discover that some of the students who do malpractice their words and sentence are not always correct, as a result of that they end up writing incorrect sentence in the exam.
TOO OCCUPIED
Many students find it very difficult to read their books for one reason of the other.
This reasons include:
- Personal Interest: this is when a student that have an exam to write and will tend to do other things first over his/her her book.
Example; watching football match, going for clubbing and other things.
- Domestic activities: This is also one of the things that can contribute to failure in examination.
INABILITY TO UTILIZE OR MANAGE THE TIME
Time factor has become a major challenge to mankind. That is why you see many student lamenting about limited time. But even at that you will still find out that why others are failing some are passing. There is one big mistake students always make in exam, and that is starting with the question you know is very tough, and at the end of the day they end up running out of time.
And finally
FAILURE TO PUT GOD FIRST
Remember in all things we should always put God first, for without him we do nothing. He is always the one who direct you where to read.
